Jiangsu Vocational College of Information Technology is a state-owned state-run higher vocational college directly under Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, and it is a demonstration vocational college in Jiangsu Province. Sunan Wuxi Workers Technical School, the predecessor of the college, was founded in Wuxi Liqiao Town by Sunan People's Administrative Office in April 1953. It changed its name to Wuxi Radio Industry School in March 1960, and then became a national level key secondary specialized school. Wuxi Radio Industry School merged with Xishan Vocational Education Center, the national key vocational education center, and established Jiangsu Vocational College of Information Technology in August 2002.

The college is located beside the beautiful Tai Lake in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, China, and it has two campuses of Outang and Dongting now; the main campus is located in Wuxi Vocational Education Park, covering an area of 1165 mu, building area of 322000 square meters, practical training equipment of more than 100 million Yuan, and books of more than 600000 copies. There are 15000 registered school students in the college and more than 800 full-time and part-time teachers, of which teachers with senior and intermediate titles account for more than 87%, and the number of double-qualified teachers account for more than 90%. The school faculty converge national and provincial level famous teacher, national excellent teacher, expert enjoying the special allowance, national technical expert, provincial “333 Project” young science and technology leader, provincial young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions, etc.

Now the college has 15 teaching faculties with 38 majors. among them, there are 2 key construction majors by central financial support, 2 brand majors of Jiangsu Province, 4 key construction majors group of Jiangsu Province, 5 provincial backbone majors; it formed a group of majors with distinct features by fusing internet of things technology with modern manufacturing and service industry. Meanwhile, the college possesses several provincial demonstration key construction majors and provincial practical training bases. The college is also leading the establishment of “China Electronic Information Industry Federation (Vocational Education Group)” and “China Vocational Education Microelectronics Education Alliance”.
